'Hanuman Jayanti' is an important festival of Hindus. Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated as the birthday of the great monkey god 'Hanuman'. It is also called 'Hanumath Jayanti'. It is celebrated all over India. It falls on the full moon of Chaitra month according to Hindu Calendar.

Hanuman was the eleventh incarnation of Shiva. Hanuman took this form to help Rama in his war against Ravana. The loyalty and might of Hanuman are extolled in the Ramayana. He is worshipped as a symbol of physical strength, perseverance and devotion.

On this day, devotees flock Hanuman temples to worship him from early morning. The devotees visit temples and apply tilaka of shendur to their foreheads from Hanuman's idol as Hanuman himself was of that color. On Hanuman Jayanti many people keep fast in honour of Hanuman. Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated in true style because Hanuman is considered the living embodiment of the true Karma Yogi.
