'Saka Calendar' (120 Words)

'Saka Calendar' is the national calendar of India. It is the official civil calendar in use in India. It was adopted from 22 March 1957 along with the Gregorian calendar. The national calendar is based on the Saka Era with Chaitra as its first month and a normal year of 365 days.

Dates of the national calendar have a permanent correspondence with dates of the Gregorian calendar. 1 Chaitra falling on 22 March normally and on 21 March in leap year. The months in the first half of the year all have 31 days.

  3. Jyaishtha
  4. Āshādha
  5. Shrāvana
  6. Bhādrapada
  7. Āshwin
  8. Kārtika
  9. Agrahayana
